Best Ways to Prepare Your RV Before Selling

April 11, 2026

Putting and RV on the market is more than just uploading a few photos online and waiting for interest. Just like selling a house takes proper preparation, so does an RV. When it is clean, well maintained, and up to date, it can drastically raise the value of your RV and make a better first impression when buyers are looking. Here are a few ways that you can properly prepare your RV before listing.

1. Deep Clean and Fix Any Needed Repairs

Presentation makes such a huge difference in buyers final decision. If someone walks in to a dirty and cluttered area, they are immediately going to be turned away and have negative opinions. So be sure to deep clean the exterior, interior, appliances, windows, etc. And well inspecting for cleanliness, also fix any small repairs that need to be done. If a lightbulb needs replacing or a door handle is loose. All of those things can be easily fixed and improve a buyers confidence in picking your RV.

2. Collect Paperwork and All Maintenance Records

In order to fully support the value of the RV, gathering all relevant paperwork to prove its value is vital. You need to have registration and ownership documents on hand and ready to go. As well as all the papers from inspections, oil changes, repairs, etc. This way the buyer will know that the RV has been properly taken care of over the years. It would also be beneficial to keep any appliance manuals or warranties if they still apply. Allowing the buyer to have access to any information they might need will give them peace of mind when deciding to buy.

3. Take Professional Photos and Create a Good Listing

Your listing is more often than not the buyers very first impression of your RV. They will immediately make judgements and form opinions based on that first picture and general description. That is why it is so important to either invest in someone to take quality photos or work hard to get good photos yourself. Think about things like the time of day and how the lighting will be affected. Capturing multiple angles of each room, highlighting key features or upgrades, and even showing pictures about things that might need repairs. Being completely upfront and honest with the interested buyers.

In the description be sure write a clear description of everything the RV has to offer. From its best features to its worst. Everything needs to be showcased and explained. It is also a good idea to include measurements and specifications of different areas in the RV. This gives buyers the ability to know if the space will work for them before even seeing it.

Keeping all these things top of mind when selling your RV will have a major impact on both interested buyers and final selling value. Cleaning, repairs, paperwork, and a high quality listing show buyers that you were intentional and will help you stand out when the market is competitive.
