Spring Travel Season Is Here: What Every RV Owner Should Know

March 14, 2026

Spring is here and with that comes all the travel adventures. Spring is one the of the most popular times of the year for RV travel. It marks the beginning of warmer weather after months of staying out of the cold. And while the new season brings much excitement, it also brings higher demand, unexpected weather conditions, and more planning then most people would expect.

Increased Demand for Campgrounds and Popular Travel Destinations

You wake up on the first 70 degree day of the year and think to yourself, ‘its time for a camping trip again!’ But guess what, everyone else has that same idea as well. Meaning campgrounds will fit up so much faster, key travel spots will be more crowded than usual, and weekend traveling could cause lots of traffic. But, if you plan advance you have a much better chance of avoiding these inconveniences.

Sit down months ahead and start thinking about where you want to go and what campgrounds you want to stay at. See how early you can book in advance. Lots of places will let you books months if not years in advance. This gives you the guarantee that your spot won’t get taken and you’ll actually get to travel where you want to go.

Weather and Travel Routes Can Become Unpredictable

Most of the time with the coming of warmer weather it also means that rainy season is going to start and traffic patterns are going to start picking up. Being prepared for the weather to shift at any moment is crucial to understand. Typically there are lots of thunderstorms, and depending on where you are can come tornados or hurricanes as well. So definitely keep a close eye on these types of weather changes and be prepared to change your plans if need be.

With the changes in weather can also come changes in traffic congestion. Not only does traffic increase due to weather changes, but it also gets busier simply due to the popularity of the season. Everyone is tired of being stuck at home and is ready to get back out on the road. So they start on camping trip not thinking about traffic or how the weather could impact their drive. So do some research of rush hour times and weather predictions in the places you will be driving through. That way you can be prepared ahead of time and not be surprised when something effects your RV travel days.

Spring RV travel is a very exciting and popular time to get back on the road, but it is also the time that requires more awareness. With much higher demand, unpredictable weather patterns, and lots of traffic. There are many important pieces that come into play in order to have a safe and fun RV road trip.
